The STIHL GTA 40 is a powerful battery garden pruner from the AS System, designed for professional tree and shrub care, landscaping, and construction work. Compact, lightweight, and well balanced, it delivers clean cuts and excellent performance for forward, backward, and plunge cutting. Trained arborists can also use it safely for crown pruning within standing trees. From park and garden maintenance to interior construction and roofing, the GTA 40 combines high cutting performance with long battery life.
Equipped with a strong EC motor and a 1/4" PM3 saw chain, it ensures fast, precise cutting. Automatic, speed-controlled chain lubrication, variable chain speed, and easy side-mounted chain tensioning make operation simple and efficient. The ergonomic handle, protective hand guard, and upper grip point provide safe, precise handling, while the claw-shaped deflector separates grip and cutting zones. Safety is further supported by dual hook-in eyelets for attaching fall protection during treetop work.
Practical features include a rocker switch operable from both sides, an LED charge-level indicator, and splash proof construction certified to IPX4 for reliable performance in all weather.
With two AS 2 batteries, the GTA 40 can achieve up to 190 cuts per charge, making it a reliable partner for daily professional use.

Side mounted chain tensioning
Side mounted chain tensioning allows for protected, easy and quick chain tensioning and replacement. The tensioning screw is inserted laterally through the sprocket cover and tool has captive bar nut.
